Weekend Hashtag Project: #lowdownground

Weekend Hashtag Project is a series featuring designated themes & hashtags chosen by Instagram’s Community Team. For a chance to be featured on the Instagram blog, follow @instagram and look for a photo announcing the weekend’s project every Friday.

This weekend’s theme was #lowdownground, which asked participants to capture photographs from the lowest vantage point possible; low down on the ground! Every Monday we feature some of our favorite submissions from the project, but be sure to check out the rest here.

On Saturday, Francophiles everywhere celebrated Bastille Day, France’s national holiday. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, a fortress-prison in the center of Paris that represented royal authority. The Bastille’s fall was the flashpoint of the French Revolution.

Bastille Day festivities include a fireworks display at the Eiffel Tour and the oldest and largest regular military parade in Europe, held on the Champs-Élysées.
